DESCRIPTION:Soloist David Jackson has commissioned and will premiere a new work by Alexandra du Bois\, titled Just like moons and like suns (2027) for trombone and piano. The work is a stand-alone work from a triptych of three connected works trombonist and new music champion David Jackson (University of Michigan; Brevard Music Center)  commissioned from three composers. Each composer has been asked to responded to a line of text from poet Maya Angelou’s poem\, Still I Rise. David Jackson’s Perseverance Project explores themes of resilience and perseverance.
