SUMMARY:The Music of Alexandra du Bois at The Hermitage
DESCRIPTION:The Hermitage presents: The Music of Composer Alexandra du Bois. Du Bois is in residence at the Hermitage Artist Retreat in southwest Florida and will present a performance of one of her chamber works and Alexandra du Bois will give a lecture on her music and influences—including the impact of growing up in close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean\, folkloric influence in her own and others' work including regions such as Dalmatia in coastal Croatia\, and these gifts refugees and immigrants around the world have and continue to give music on both micro and macro levels. Violinists Samantha Bennett and Jennifer Best Takeda will perform du Bois' Chanson d'orage for two violins (2009).
